India-based carrier, IndiGo, has entered into a partnership with Bluebox Aviation Systems to create the digital inflight experience on its upcoming A321XLR fleet. Bluebox’s modular digital services platform, Blueview, will be integrated as a line-fit solution on Airbus’ Open Software Platform (OSP) on the A321XLRs. The airline has 69 A321XLRs on order, the first of which is due to be delivered before the end of the year.
Customers on IndiGo’s A321XLRs will be able to digital services directly on their personal electronic devices, including a library of inflight entertainment (IFE) content including movies, TV, audio and games; an interactive moving map for real-time flight tracking; an engaging graphical user interface (GUI) customised for IndiGo’s branding; and access to digital dining menus.
“OSP allows airlines to harness powerful, integrated software environments as standard,” said Kevin Clark, CEO of Bluebox. “With Blueview, IndiGo will be able to offer passengers a seamless and engaging digital experience immediately, with the capability to evolve with passenger demands over the coming years.”
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, added, “By enabling access to a wide range of entertainment on their personal devices – including popular Indian and Hollywood films, TV shows, games, anime and animated series – we are confident that this solution adds significant value to our customers’ onboard experience, making it more enjoyable.”
