Recaro Aircraft Seating Polska has expanded its production and office facility in Świebodzin, Poland as part of a “double-digit million Euro” investment that is part of the company’s Space2grow growth initiative.
The company has more than doubled the total area of the site from approximately 10,550 square metres to more than 22,000 square metres, with approximately 8,600 square metres of the space being used for production, logistics, and dress cover operations, bringing the combined area for these functions to around 18,000 square metres.
This additional space had enabled Recaro to increase the number of production lines at the site from four to eight, which in turn creates potential to increase its annual production capacity from 60,000 to 100,000 aircraft passenger seats. to support growing customer demand. Recaro plans to hire more than 200 employees at the Świebodzin site over the next five years.
The Świebodzin site specialises in economy-class seating, with staff manufacturing the R1, R2, and R3 seat platforms. The site also provides in-house dress cover capabilities through its Cut2dress operations. Recaro Aircraft Seating Polska has produced nearly 660,000 passenger seats to date.
The expanded production setup is designed around a linear product flow in order to improve ergonomics and operational efficiency. The assembly and logistics areas have also been separated in order to enhance workplace safety and optimise material flows. Recaro also plans to enhance the warehouse operations by adding dedicated storage areas and automated storage and picking technology, which should come online by the end of 2027.
The expansion at the Świebodzin facility also includes approximately 3,000 square metres of additional office space, which will more than double the working space to almost 5,000 square metres. These spaces will include open office areas, conference rooms, a canteen, and employee facilities.
