Gilat Satellite Networks has announced that an unnamed “large global avionics company” has placed a multimillion dollar order with its Commercial Division for the supply of Sidewinder electronically steered antenna (ESA) terminals. Deliveries of the ESA terminals, which are designed by Gilat Stellar Blu, are expected within the next six months.
The Sidewinder ESA supports high-throughput satellite networks to enable reliable, high-speed inflight connectivity. Gilat says the electronic beam steering delivers fast satellite acquisition, enhanced reliability, and reduced maintenance compared to mechanically steered antennas. The ESA is compatible with both GEO satellites and the OneWeb LEO satellite constellation.
