Taiwan-based airline, EVA Air, has selected Panasonic Avionics’ Arc 3D in-flight map platform, as well as complementary software packages, for installation across its Boeing 787, 777-300ER, and incoming Airbus A350-1000 fleets.
The Arc platform replaces traditional two-dimensional moving maps with a 3D interface offering more than 15 viewing angles, including window, overhead, follow-along, and cockpit perspectives. The update also introduces street-level maps for selected cities in the EVA Air network, allowing passengers to browse local attractions and points of interest along the route.
EVA Air has also selected Arc for Young Explorers, a children’s mode that overlays real-time flight data in the map with a dinosaur theme. The feature follows the Quetzalcoatlus, a prehistoric pterosaur, along the aircraft’s flight path and displays dinosaurs historically associated with the regions being flown over, together with information on their characteristics and behaviour.
The airline has additionally chosen the Arc Vistas screen saver function, which displays aerial scenery while continuing to show flight progress data.

Arc’s integration with Panasonic Avionics’ OneMedia platform will also be activated by EVA Air, enabling in-map advertising placements that can be managed, deployed, monitored, and reported through the OneMedia software tool.
Patrick Biggerstaff, senior director of digital solutions product line management at Panasonic Avionics, said, “Arc is designed to make air travel a more enjoyable and engaging experience for passengers of all ages. EVA Air’s renowned focus on passenger experience and innovation makes them the perfect airline to launch our Young Explorer feature.”
